I just finished taking my comps (comprehensive graduate exam) and am now gearing up to go! Well, I've been geared up for a while, but whatever....
Today and tomorrow I'm going to finish up packing and send my application to a few school districts. Adam has a basketball tournament all weekend and we'll be headed to Ruckersville Sunday night to drop the dogs off. Heather's taking care of them and Adam's sister Jeni is driving us to the airport on Monday morning.
Apparently a "driver" is picking up at the airport in San Jose and we are paying him $70 bucks, which I'm not all that excited about, but I'm going with the flow.... Sr. Gray (the ESL director and my main contact) said that it will probably take an hour to an hour and a half to clear customs and then ninety minutes to get to Quesada.
We are going straight to the hotel, Hotel Noche de Paz (silent night, night of peace). 400 m.Sur del parque de Ciudad Quesada, San Carlos, Alajuela, Costa Rica. The phone number there is 2460-1234. The website is supposedly www.nochedepaz.co.cr - if you can get it to work, let me know ;). Adam and I are staying there for two weeks and at about 15,000 colones ($30) a night, it's the cheapest we could convince any one to find us. I just can't seem to make anyone understand just how low my standards are!
I'll have to figure out how to get to the school when I get there, ask around for the nearest bus station to the hotel and which one I should take. School begins at 7:00 and ends at 2:15. Pretty excited, over all. Can't really believe that it is actually happening and so soon! Glad Adam will be with me in the beginning.
One last website for anyone interested - probably the most specific info on the city I've found.
