Centro Educativo del Bosque Verde
Mi escuela - also known as The Green Forest School. It is a private bilingual school located in Ciudad Quesada, a city known to the locals as San Carlos.
The Costa Rican education system is set up in ciclos, or cycles, with a set number of years equaling one cycle. Students take a standardized test at the end of each. Since my second placement needs to be in early elementary, I will be working with students in I ciclo, which includes our equivalent of kindergarten, first and second.
Since the school is bilingual, they have set it up so that there are six teachers working with these four grades. An ESL (English as a second language) specialist, a science specialist, language arts specialist and three general classroom teachers. The kids stay in one place, but the teachers rotate around so that all areas are covered and half of the classes are covered in Spanish, half in English.
There are 150 students in the whole school (which basically includes pre-k through 8th grade) and about 55 in I ciclo. Before, this would have sounded like a lot of kids to get to know, but considering that my placement right now has me teaching about 105 students a day, I think I'll manage ;).

Introducción
Hello all!
I thought that this would be a good way for me to keep everyone updated while traveling. I'm making it for Costa Rica, but hopefully will have the opportunity to use it a lot in the next few years!
Until I go, I'll put any interesting or relevant websites that I find on here. Once there, I'll let everyone know that I'm still alive and what I'm up to. Pretty good idea, huh?
